Top Club Players makes Record of Playing 100 Matches

Players like Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and Steven Gerrard have recently created history in recent years by making 100 appearances for the national team.

They represented Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool during this period. Arsenal are also a big club in English football and their midfielder Jack Wilshere says that he wants to emulate in the records of these players in the near future. Wilshere still remains a long way away from reaching 100 appearances for England, but he does have a long time left in football at just 22 years of age.

Up until now, the 22-year-old has featured in all the 26 matches for England. He could have certainly made more appearances had it not been for the numerous injury problems but he has suffered recently.

He is once again ruled out with yet another injury problem, but he should be fit enough to make it into the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 match in March. He has played in less than 600 minutes of league action this campaign. Wilshere has scored only one goal this season and this may be seen as an area where the midfielder would like to improve going forward. He is yet to score for England in a competitive match.

“I’m still young so hopefully there’s more to come. Gerrard and Lampard passed 100 caps, and now Wayne Rooney’s getting there too and he’s still in his 20s.I missed a lot of football through injury so who knows, maybe I would be nearer 50 caps without those setbacks, but I definitely want to get to 100 caps if I can. I came on near the end for Steven Gerrard, which was amazing because when I had first joined up, I was like – that’s Steven Gerrard! I was just 18,” said Wilshere.
